Texas Field Ministers

For 12 years, The Heart of Texas Foundation has spearheaded the vision for Field Ministry in Texas. As of 2022, Texas Field Ministers have successfully served the male prison population for more than 7 years. Currently, 202 Field Ministers serve in 42 prison units across Texas or 67% of the male prison population within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Field Ministers Jacob Turner and Pat Lamb answer questions from the new class of correctional officers regarding the roles and responsibilities of a Field Minister as Grove Norwood facilitates the opportunity for the correctional officers and the Field Ministers to hear from one another.

Men serving extremely long sentences apply, are accepted, and study for four years to become a Field Minister upon their graduation from the Field Ministers Training Center for men at the Memorial Unit.

The Heart of Texas Foundation College of Ministry offers men and women the Bachelor of Arts in Applied Ministry earned by men and women through more than four years of rigorous academic study and daily application of that study with their heart at the Memorial Prison Unit in Rosharon, Texas and at the Hobby Prison Unit in Marlin, Texas.
